Welcome to Ron Thornton's world of watercolour. Over the years Ron has painted almost every scene imaginable of his beloved northeast. A journalist from The Northumbrian who was recently given access to his archived collection of over 1,000 prints wrote: “All were outstanding and all were painted by Ron Thornton”.

Ron has recently brought together his unique Tyne series of watercolour paintings and sketches in a book, The River Tyne - From Sea to Source, which celebrates the history, cultural heritage, rural splendour and modern development of the Tyne. The book will be an essential collectible for anyone who loves the River Tyne or simply enjoys fine art.

His second book "A Coastal Voyage in Watercolour The Borders to the Humber" is now available. You can find more information about both of these books on the Book page. Ron has also produced DVD painting courses for students of watercolour painting.
